I’ve found that the landscape, particularly the urban landscape is an excellent metaphor for cultural exchange and adaptation. It’s also, often a literal reflection of these cultural shifts and transformations. Through these images, notions of history, memory, and migration are explored, on both personal and cultural levels. My work is an illustration of, and metaphor for cultural travel. It illustrates both the cohesion and disjuncture created by migration and cultural exchange. The intended effect is to create a new sense of place in a landscape containing histories of the past and present.
